Upcoming Field Trips

Dear Families,

Students should wear their Lighthouse shirts on our field trips Thursday and Friday.  Usually, I’d ask that students wear their Lighthouse shirts to school during our all school meeting on Wednesday, but I’d prefer to save them for our field trips.  The weather on Thursday and Friday looks iffy at best, so please send students in with a raincoat or umbrella.  Students should bring a cold lunch, snacks, and a drink in an unbreakable container.  Students may also bring activities for the bus including electronics as long as the songs and games are rated “E” for everyone.   We will not be going to any gift shops, so please don’t send your child with money.  If you are a chaperone and wish to buy something, please keep your purchase as quiet as possible.

Thank you,

Mr. Cheney

4th Grade Field Trips

Dear Families,

We will be going on two field trips the week we return from vacation.  On Thursday, May 2, we will be visiting the State House and Historical Society in Montpelier.  On Friday, May 3, we will be visiting the Rock of Ages Quarry in Barre and Ben & Jerry’s in Waterbury.  Both of these field trips tie in nicely to our studies about Vermont history and economy.  A permission slip went home on Wednesday for these trips and I’d like to have them back by next Thursday if possible.   If you need a new permission slip, please email me and I’ll send one out on Monday.

Behavior

We’ve had an uptick in misbehavior this week.  Many students are entering the classroom in the morning unregulated.  Anything you can do to help them be ready to learn in the morning would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Mr. Cheney

Staples

Dear Families,

We had an issue with students eating staples, or at least putting them in their mouths today.  I think some students are thinking it looks like a piercing if they put it in their mouth, but I don’t understand the behavior.  I made it very clear that we don’t put staples in our mouths, but at the end of the day I found single staples and groups of 3 or 4 staples on a few different desks.  Please discuss this with your child and let them know it’s a safety concern.

Thanks,
Mr. Cheney
